McDade Park to Host 'Rescue Nursery', Seeks Volunteers

The Lackawanna County Department of Parks and Recreation seeks volunteers to help save native tree saplings that otherwise would be destroyed in the construction of a trail at Robinson Park, on Scranton’s East Mountain. Paul Bechtel, county director of parks and recreation, said the saplings will be transplanted to a “rescue nursery” at McDade Park, and then be replanted as riparian buffers when they are mature enough for that purpose. Anyone interested in volunteering should go to Robinson Park on Sunday, June 2 at noon. And, bring a shovel!
