AAA, Telespond Recognize Scholarship Recipients

Telespond Senior Services hosted an event to recognize Lackawanna College students who were recipients of the 2023-2024 Student Caregiver Scholarships.

The students received free college tuition for working as Personal Care Aides through Telespond Senior Services to provide care to older adults who are approved for this service through the Area Agency on Aging but were waiting for a provider to become available to staff their case.

The students shared stories about their personal experiences and growth through this program, and how it has prepared them for careers in nursing as well as customer service.  They were presented with certificates, gift totes, and a Lackawanna College T-shirt as a token of appreciation!

This partnership has made Telespond Senior Services the largest personal care service provider for the Lackawanna County Area Agency on Aging, servicing approximately 50 older adults through the agency.  This partnership with Lackawanna College highlights a community partnership that has filled a gap to ensure older adults needs are met in the least restrictive manner having the ability to age in place.
