Juvenile Probation
The mission of the Lackawanna County Juvenile Probation Department is to provide prompt and fair justice to all individuals and families who come before the court by promoting family stability through a strong community support system. More specifically, the Court adheres to and adopts the standards proposed by the Juvenile Court Judges Commission and the Balanced and Restorative Justice philosophy.

The Juvenile Probation Department supervises juveniles between the ages of 10 and 18 years old.

The Juvenile Probation Department holds several courts:

  • Truancy Court (for juveniles not attending school)
  • Intensive Court (for high risk juveniles as an alternative to placement and juveniles returning home from placement)
  • Treatment Court (juveniles with substance abuse issues)
  • Delinquency Court (juveniles who have alleged to have committed a crime)
