Merli-Sarnoski

Merli-Sarnoski Park, dedicated in 1978, is named after Lackawanna County Congressional Medal of Honor recipients Gino Merli and Joseph Sarnoski. The 840-acre park features lake swimming, fishing and sports facilities but is also known for its wide expanse of untouched natural beauty. It is located just off Route 106 in Fell Township.


Amenities include:

  • 35-acre lake that is regularly stocked by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission
  • Two pavilions
  • Large handicapped accessible fishing pier
  • Eight-mile cross country mountain bike trail
  • Beautiful sandy beach area with bath houses
  • Ice fishing
  • Boat launch (electrical motors only)
  • Approximately 15 miles of hiking, mountain bike and nature trails
  • Picnic areas with tables and charcoal grills
  • Two playground areas with basketball and volleyball courts
  • Regulation soccer field
  • Overnight camping for non-profit organizations with parks department approval

Programs:

The Lackawanna County Parks and Recreation Department offers a wide range of low-cost sports clinics for children and adults throughout the year. In addition, the department offers various events including children’s fishing derbies, golf tournaments, bocce tournaments and cross country races. Pavilion Rentals:

Park pavilions may be rented for free by Lackawanna County residents. To reserve a pavilion, contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 570-963-6764.
